Travel south towards Ponta do Ouro, a laid back coastal destination famous for its golden beaches, warm Indian Ocean waters and relaxed beach atmosphere. Arrive at Gala Gala Eco Resort, check in and settle into your accommodation. The afternoon is yours to relax on the beach, swim in the warm Indian Ocean, enjoy the coastline or simply unwind after your overland journey.

As the sun begins to set, return to the resort and enjoy a relaxed evening with your fellow travellers. Leave the mountains behind. Feel the sand beneath your feet and let the Indian Ocean welcome you to Mozambique.

Wake up in beautiful Ponta do Ouro and enjoy breakfast before boarding your overland truck for the journey towards Maputo. Travel through Mozambique’s scenic southern coastline before crossing the spectacular Maputo–Katembe Bridge, one of Africa’s impressive suspension bridges, connecting the coastal town of Katembe with Maputo.

Arrive in Maputo, check into your accommodation and settle in. The remainder of the afternoon is yours to enjoy at leisure. Relax at the hotel, explore the local surroundings, discover a café or restaurant, or simply unwind and enjoy the vibrant atmosphere of Mozambique’s capital.

Wake up in Maputo and enjoy breakfast before packing away your camping gear and preparing for the final leg of your Southern African overland adventure. Join a guided Maputo city tour, discovering the city’s fascinating architecture, history, markets, vibrant culture and Portuguese-influenced heritage. Experience the character of Mozambique’s capital and enjoy a final taste of its unique food and urban atmosphere.
