Exploring the Area
Mpumalanga translates (Zulu name for “the place where the sun rises”) is a province in eastern South Africa, bordering the nations of Eswatini (previously Swaziland) and Mozambique, as well as lush states of South Africa being Gauteng, Limpopo and KwaZulu-Natal.
It embraces the southern half of Kruger National Park, a huge nature reserve with abundant wildlife including Big Five Game. The province’s iconic Blyde River Canyon, among the world’s largest, is known as a green canyon because of its beautiful subtropical foliage.
It is a land of contrasts, where Big Five wildlife roam the dry bushveld and mist rolls over Jurassic Park style canyons and winding rivers.
The capital, Mbombela (previously Nelspruit) guards the southern entrance of the famous Kruger National Park and the Sabi Sands Game Reserve in the southwest of the Greater Kruger National Park. The trio of towns, Sabie, White River and Hazyview, are playgrounds for adventure, a must visit destination.

A unique feature of Sabi Sands is its 50-kilometer unfenced boundary with the Kruger National Park, creating a harmonious coexistence that allows wildlife to roam freely.
